Peche Island Day will take place on August 15 2026. With robust progress towards the Detroit River’s revival, this event provides committed partners with an opportunity to share remediation stories and celebrate successes with the public. Offerings include free boat rides to and from Lakeview Marina/Peche Island, sponsored by the Detroit River Canadian Cleanup. Guests can explore the island on foot; check out some educational displays and activities hosted by partners and attend a few hikes led by City of Windsor staff.
Tours will occur at the following times:
- 10:30am
- 11:30am
- 12:30pm
The last ride to the island takes place at 1:15pm, with a strict 2:30pm return time. Anyone interested can reserve a spot by calling (519) 255-1161. Pets and larger personal items such as bikes are not permitted due to safety and capacity concerns. Guests are asked to arrive 10 minutes early to sign a waiver, review two safety videos, and be fitted for a personal flotation device (PFD), which is required to be worn on the boat. Visitors are encouraged to reserve a spot. Walk-ons will be permitted on a first-come first-serve basis but cannot be guaranteed.
