April 11 – Little River Litter Cleanup

About the event

On April 11, 2026, Essex Region Conservation Authority (ERCA), Little River Enhancement Group (Lil’ Reg), the City of Windsor and the Detroit River Canadian Cleanup (DRCC) will work with volunteers to remove accumulated debris and litter along a portion of the Little River corridor and Ganatchio Trail.

Pre-registration is required.  Event will take place rain or shine, and will be delayed because of severe weather only.

We will be set up in Teedie Park conducting onsite registration beginning at 10 am. A waiver will be sent to participants shortly before the event to review, print and sign to bring to the event. You can then access cleaning supplies and begin the cleanup.

Parking is available at the Canadian Tire off of Tecumseh Road east. We ask volunteers to not park in the neighbourhood near Teedie Park. Teedie Park’s address is 8049 Hawthorne Dr, Windsor, ON. The Canadian Tire address is 8505 Tecumseh Road east, Windsor, ON.

Please dress for the weather and wear closed toed sturdy shoes. This location involves walking long distances with litter collection bags/buckets and moving up and down the slopes of the Little River valley. Please note, no volunteers will be permitted to enter the Little River with waders at this location.

Please register below. Following registration, ERCA will e-mail all attendees with a reminder, some housekeeping and some health and safety points, so everyone knows what to expect the morning of the event. 

March 26 – BUI 1 Open House: Restrictions on Fish and Wildlife Consumption

Join the DRCC for an open house on the redesignation recommendation of BUI 1: Restrictions on Fish and Wildlife Consumption.

The open house will be held on Thursday March 26, 2026 at 6:30pm to 9pm at the Ojibway Nature Centre (5200 Matchett Rd, Windsor, ON, N9C 4E8). Doors open at 6pm. RSVP to attend in-person here or register to attend virtually here.

Free Film Screening: Ripples of Plastic

Join us on Wednesday February 25th, 2026 at 6pm (doors open, film begins at 6:30pm) for a free screening of RIPPLES OF PLASTIC at the Imagine Lakeshore Cinemas, 164 Commercial Blvd., Tecumseh, ON.

About the event

DRCC staff will be in the lobby starting at 6pm with a registration table and some educational displays, come say hello! Concessions will be available to purchase drinks and snacks. Film begins at 6:30pm, followed by an expert panel around 7:30pm. Panelists include Mayor Sherry Bondy from the Town of Essex, Heather Taylor from the Essex Windsor Solid Waste Authority, and Taryn Azzopardi from the City of Windsor’s Pollution Control Department.
