Dr. Suzuki is a Canadian icon in science communication and environmental advocacy and was the host of CBC’s The Nature of Things between 1979-2023. An author of more than fifty books, Dr. Suzuki’s most recent book details his remarkable life from surviving internment camps as a Japanese Canadian child to becoming one of North America’s most trusted voices in science communication. Through platforms such as The Nature of Things he maintained a consistent public voice emphasizing humanities interdependence with nature and advocated for calls to action on the most pressing environmental issues including climate change, conservation of land, ocean protection and the needs for and solutions for addressing the biodiversity crisis. The David Suzuki foundation, founded in 1990, led to the protection of tens of thousands of hectares of Canadian wilderness and he and his foundation championed the adoption of Indigenous knowledge in various conservation pursuits. Lessons from a Lifetime provides a definitive celebration of David Suzuki at the age of ninety, with photographs, personal stories and letters from friends and family that reveal how one man’s courage inspired generations of environmental activists.

Lessons from a Lifetime, and a variety of other books by Dr. David Suzuki, will be available at the event from Biblioasis bookshop.
