The Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement calls for Canada and the U.S. to convene the Great Lakes Public Forum once every three years to discuss the state of the lakes, progress made under the Agreement, priorities for science and action, and to provide an opportunity for public input.

We are pleased to announce that the next Great Lakes Public Forum will be held in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada on September 27-29, 2022. We encourage you to save this date on your calendar and look forward to your attendance. More information on the Great Lakes Public Forum will be forthcoming.

This year’s Forum holds special significance as it falls on the 50th anniversary of the signing of the 1972 Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement between Canada and the United States. We hope you’ll join us at the Forum to celebrate this important milestone!

Forum public sur les Grands Lacs 2022 – Date à retinir

L’Accord relatif à la qualité de l’eau dans les Grands Lacs prévoit que les États‑Unis et le Canada convoquent le Forum public sur les Grands Lacs une fois tous les trois ans pour discuter de l’état des lacs et des progrès réalisés dans le cadre de l’Accord et donner au public l’occasion de s’exprimer.

Nous sommes heureux d’annoncer que le prochain Forum public sur les Grands Lacs se tiendra à Niagara Falls, en Ontario, Canada du 27 au 29 septembre 2022. Le Forum de cette année revêt une signification particulière puisqu’il coïncide avec le 50^e anniversaire de la signature de l’Accord de 1972 relatif à la qualité de l’eau dans les Grands Lacs entre le Canada et les États-Unis.

Nous vous encourageons à marquer cette date sur votre calendrier. De plus amples renseignements sur le Forum public sur les Grands Lacs seront bientôt disponibles.

Volunteers are welcome to register for the upcoming spring community tree planting event hosted by the Essex Region Conservation Authority in partnership with the City of Windsor and the Windsor Detroit Bridge Authority. Large native to Windsor-Essex potted trees and shrubs will be planted at Brock Park to increase urban shade, dot the shoreline and improve local biodiversity.

Pre-registration through Eventbrite is required. Tree planting will take place rain or shine, and will be delayed because of severe weather only. Safety precautions such as masking are encouraged.

Location and Parking

Brock Park is located at 3278 Russell Street in Sandwich. Street parking is available in the surrounding neighbourhood.

What to Bring

• Please bring a reusable water bottle with you to the planting event.
• It may be helpful to bring a towel, an extra pair of socks to change into after planting and some clean shoes for the car ride home.
• All planting equipment will be provided, but if you have a favourite pair of gardening gloves, shovel and trowel feel free to bring them.
• Volunteer paperwork

What to Wear

• Dress for the weather. April can bring a wide range of conditions. We recommend dressing in layers, bring extra socks, a towel, rain pants and jacket, hat etc.
• Wear sturdy footwear such as hiking or rubber boots that is comfortable. This location will be extremely muddy with rough terrain. We do not recommend wearing running shoes.
