Amherstburg Volunteer Tree Planting for Earth Day

 
Volunteers are welcome to register for the upcoming EARTH DAY Volunteer Tree Planting hosted by the Environmental Advisory Committee.
 

Bring the family or join with friends to plant a tree for EARTH DAY! Medium-sized trees will be planted at The Libro Centre to add to Amherstburg’s tree canopy and offset the effects of climate change.

The Town of Amherstburg has provided funding for this event & Essex Region Conservation Authority arranged the helpful resources and expertise.

Tree planting will occur rain or shine and only will be delayed because of severe weather.

NOTE: Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. Those under 16 years must be accompanied by an adult. Anyone 16 or 17 years of age will require a parent/guardian to sign a volunteer release form.

Earth Day Community Tree Planting

Essex Region Conservation is inviting everyone to join us on Sunday, April 24, 2022 between 10am and 2pm to help plant more than 2,200 native trees in the City of Windsor. Trees generously supported by Enwin Utilities, Tree Canada and the LCBO.

This year, pre-registration is required for Green Teams (15 or more) and individuals attending the event. There are three planting shifts to choose from including 10am to 11am, 11:30am to 12:30pm and 1pm to 2pm. You can expect to plant three to five trees per individual at this year’s celebration. Green Teams will be recognized with a team photograph at the start of their shift.

Please note, because registration is limited please be sure you are ONLY registering for the number of participants that you guarantee will attend for your Green Teams and individuals ticket requests. Event will take place rain or shine, and will be delayed because of severe weather only. Safety precautions such as masking are encouraged.

Parking is available at the following parking lots and use the Ganatchio Trail system to arrive at the Earth Day site. Riverside Kiwanis Park/Pump Track parking lot, McHugh Park parking lot and various public parking lots along Riverside Drive east.

Brock Park Community Tree Planting

Volunteers are welcome to register for the upcoming spring community tree planting event hosted by the Essex Region Conservation Authority in partnership with the City of Windsor and the Gordie Howe International Bridge project. Large native to Windsor-Essex potted trees and shrubs will be planted at Brock Park to increase urban shade, dot the shoreline and improve local biodiversity.

Pre-registration through Eventbrite is required. Tree planting will take place rain or shine, and will be delayed because of severe weather only. Safety precautions such as masking are encouraged.

Location and Parking

Brock Park is located at 3278 Russell Street in Sandwich. Street parking is available in the surrounding neighbourhood.

College Avenue Bikeway Park Community Tree Planting

Volunteers are welcome to register for the upcoming spring community tree planting event hosted by the Essex Region Conservation Authority in partnership with the City of Windsor and the Gordie Howe International Bridge Project. Large native to Windsor-Essex potted trees will be planted at College Avenue Bikeway Park to increase urban shade and biodiversity.

Pre-registration through Eventbrite is required. Event will take place rain or shine, and will be delayed because of severe weather only. Safety precautions such as masking are encouraged.

Location, Parking and Public Transportation

College Avenue Bikeway Park is located along College Avenue in Sandwich between Brock Street and Prince Road. Public parking is available at the park and in the surrounding neighbourhood. Public transportation to Crowley Park is available via the Crosstown 2, Transway 1C, Central 3, Central 3 west, and South Windsor 7. The west end terminal for Transit Windsor is located at the corner of College Avenue and Brock Street, near Crowley Park.

Solcz Family Foundation Forest Community Tree Planting

SAVE THE DATE!

On May 13th and 14th, the Essex Region Conservation Authority, partners and volunteers will be planting trees at the Solcz Family Foundation Forest in south east Leamington!
