The Detroit River Family Fishing Day will be held on Saturday July 4 2026 from 8am to 12pm at Queen’s Dock Park. The event location is at the end of Mill Street in Sandwich/Windsor.
Join the DRCC, ERCA, the Windsor Port Authority and other partners for a morning of fun on the new fishing pier (currently under construction into summer 2026). Free fishing gear provided, expert anglers on site to share tricks and tips, educational booths and information about the Detroit River will be displayed.
This event takes place during Ontario Family Fishing Event week when residents can fish in Ontario waters without the mandatory license. Fishing equipment will be available for public use for free and there will be displays, giveaways and more!
- Participants are encouraged to bring their own rods (if they have them) as we have a limited number available.
- Personal flotation devices will be provided for those under the age of 18.
- Consider packing a folding chair, a hat, sunscreen/bug spray, reusable water bottle, snacks and plenty of patience while waiting for a bite!
- Street parking is available in the surrounding neighborhood.
- Public washrooms are available at the windmill.
All children must be accompanied by a parent, grandparent or legal guardian who will be required to sign a waiver and release form on site for each participating child.
